  1. How do I schedule studio time?
Call us between 10am-6pm EST at least 24 hours before your desired session time to check the availability of the studio. We will either confirm your request or give you an alternative date for your appointment. For weekend sessions (Fri-Sun) call 72 hours in advance to ensure an available time. Once you have received the appointment date and time, return to our website and make your payment.

  2. Can I bring my own instruments into the studio?
Yes, you can bring your guitar, bass, keyboards, and small percussion instruments into the studio. We have all the cords needed to connect your gear into our system. We prefer to record guitar and bass parts dry and direct, and then apply effects afterwards. We can record most live instruments with the exception of the drum set.

  3. How can I transfer my audio session files from my studio to yours?
If you are using Pro Tools, you can create a session CD that we can open in our Pro Tools 8 LE software. For all other programs, we recommend that you create a wav file CD-Rom. The regions of each track should be merged into a solid wav file that starts at the beginning of the song. Label each wav file according to the type of audio it contains. We could also use any tempo information about the song to sync up the tracks with our system. The more organized you are, the easier it will be for our engineer to get your session up and running.

  4. How many songs can I complete in a one hour studio session?
If you are bringing your instrumentals on CD and simply want to record your vocals over the music, you should expect to complete one song per hour. This is a reasonable amount of time to allow our engineer to layer your vocal parts and give a good mix down of the music.

  5. Will there be someone is my session to create the music for me?
Music production is not included with regular studio time. If you need someone to create a music arrangement during your session you should book a Quick Beats session. You can also use our equipment to create your own music during your session time. Our engineer will be there to handle all the technical stuff while you focus on your creativity.

  6. Can I pay for my studio time in person?
Yes. You can stop by the studio during normal business hours to pay for your session time. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit for all sessions of 2 hours or more. One hour sessions can be paid at the end of the session. We accept most major credit cards, money orders, and of course, cash.

  7. What happens if I have prepaid for my studio time and need to cancel my appointment?
We discourage cancelling studio appointments and penalize cancellations that occur less than 24 hours before your scheduled time by subtracting 15 minutes from the time per hour. For instance, if you have scheduled a 2 hour studio session and cancel in less than 24 hours, your remaining time will be 1 ½ hours. Cancellations outside of 24 hours will be rescheduled. All deposits for studio time are non-refundable.

  8. Why should I take advantage of your block studio time?
We understand that most independent artists have smaller budgets than the major labels, so we offer discounts on our block studio time. Our block rate discounts can save you as much as $100 in studio costs. You could use the money you save on other aspects of your music project.

  9. How much does it cost to record a whole album?
We get asked this question a lot and the truth is that there is no absolute answer. Your cost will depend on many factors, including how many songs you plan to record and the complexity of your music. We encourage purchasing block studio time and working out a plan to stay within your budget.

  10. What is the average turn-around for a CD duplication job?
The turn-around time for CD duplication jobs will vary, depending upon the order quantity and whether we are handling the design of your inserts. An order of 100 CDs with a 2-page insert and tray card that you provide can be completed in as soon as 48 hours. You should allow up to 3- 5 additional days for completing your custom designed inserts.

  11. If I order CD duplication online, do I have to upload my whole CD?
No. In fact, we would prefer that you to mail or drop off a copy of the CD to our office. Uploading the tracks separately could compromise the sound quality of your songs or destroy the track spacing created in your mastering job.

  12. I want you to design my CD inserts. How can I get my pictures and insert information to you?
After placing your order, you can use the upload form to send us any pictures that you what us to use in your design. You can also upload or email us a Word document or text file containing your track list, credits, and any other related information about your CD. Local customers can provide us with a CD containing all this information on it during our normal business hours.

  13. What is the difference between mixing and mastering?
Although mixing and mastering go hand and hand, they are two unique services. Mixing involves applying the right levels, equalization, and effects to your session tracks in order to produce a good sounding final song. After the song is mixed, mastering puts the finishing “sparkle” on the song to bring it to a level of greatness. Mastering is also needed to bring cohesiveness to a group of songs that were recorded at different times.

  14. How can I tell if my song is ready to be mastered?
If you are 90% satisfied with the sound of your song, but feel that it’s missing the sparkle, chances are that mastering can take your song to the next level. Mastering is not a miracle cure for a bad recording or mix. If your song has sour vocal notes or unbalanced mix levels, it’s best to go back to the studio to rerecord the parts and have the song remixed.

  15. What is the average turn-around for a CD mastering job?
A 10-12 song CD mastering job can be completed in as soon as 72 hours. Fewer songs can be completed within 24- 48 hours depending upon our current workload.
